20 Years of Riigikogu Toimetised – Mart Raudsaar

My objective was to take the journal to a new level, improving its readability while maintaining the quality standards of a research journal.

RiTo is a unique publication that should help the members of the Riigikogu in issues of national importance by offering analyses and focus articles, as the MPs do not employ personal assistants because of the particularity of our parliamentarianism. I have not heard of any other national parliament having its own journal that could be compared to RiTo.

My premises in reforming the journal were the following: every issue should have a specific focus topic that the co-authors could study from different aspects; the journal must be on the level of popular science to make it accessible for readers; part of the journal could still be peer-reviewed, which would help to motivate researchers to contribute; the journal must be aesthetically pleasing and up-to date.
